Last week I attended the Gitex tech conference in Dubai. Gitex is a huge tech conference, in fact the biggest. It addresses tech solutions for consumers, enterprises, and governments in EMEA and APAC regions.

I was only in a couple of the halls and focused primarily on Avaya. It’s Avaya’s biggest event of the year. It had by far the largest contact center focused booth/stand. There were five analysts in attendance to meet with Avaya executives, customers, and partners.

Avaya International is having its time. It’s leader, Nidal Abou-ltaif was named Avaya’s global sales leader. Three of his team have also been elevated into global roles: Emir Susic is the Global VP of ACES (Professional Services), Roberto Schmidl leads global Renewals and Customer Success, and  Ahmed Helmy leads the Avaya Experience Platform (which was launched by Avaya International).

Avaya has a very strong brand internationally. Many of the major brands I see in Dubai (banks, construction, utilities, etc.) are Avaya’s customers.
