TalkingPointz Insightz: Is the Magic Quadrant Past Its Prime?

August 10, 2026 by David Danto

AI isn’t eliminating the need for industry analysts, but it is dramatically raising the bar for what analysts need to deliver. We recently took the vendors in the current UCaaS Magic Quadrant, ignored Gartner’s rankings, added a few relevant players, and worked with an LLM to build an alternative market framework and capability heat map. It took about 15 minutes. That doesn’t mean we duplicated months of Gartner research – it raises the much more interesting question of what professional analysts should be producing with all that additional time, access, data, and expertise that an LLM cannot. And also, are backward-looking reports that are at least six months old still relevant in today’s world?
