Slack continues its role as workstream collaboration pioneer. I don’t typically attend developer conferences, but this was a great opportunity to catch up with Slack.
I wanted to clarify a point made in this video about integrations vs. created apps. Actually, all apps are integrations. It is better to think of integrations in terms of degrees. Some effectively refer to users to separate, external apps. Integrations can also be done where the entire experience remains within Slack. The new Salesforce integration is more of the latter and the new toolkit enables richer in-slack integrations. Also, app integrations are often plural or mashups. For example, Slack featured a dashboard app that collected secure data, manipulated it in a Google Sheet, and presented it in a Google Slides deck.
