We’re Number 55!

by Colin Berkshire

Quick! Name the 55th fastest country for cellular speeds.

Now, I want to clarify that I’m only talking 4G and better, not that old 2G stuff that t-Mobile peddles to much of the US.

So what country is the 55th fastest? Why the US of course.

We ranked 55 on a worldwide scale. That is down from 43rd a year ago.

Despite being one of the first countries to deploy LTE, our speeds have dropped in comparison to other countries.

It’s routine to get speeds of 33 megabits in other countries like New Zealand, Korea, and Singapore. But it starts to get embarrassing when we’re beat out by Hungary, Dominican Republic, and Morocco.

Perhaps it is time to mandate free roaming on competitor’s towers when speeds drop below 5 megabits?
